Edukację muzyczną rozpoczął w wieku sześciu lat w Ogólnokształcącej Szkole Muzycznej im. Feliksa Nowowiejskiego w Gdańsku pod kierunkiem Ewy Włodarczyk, a następnie kontynuował naukę u prof. Waldemara Wojtala, aż do zakończenia studiów w 2021 roku. Szkołę muzyczną ukończył również w klasie organów dr Hanny Dys, a obecnie studiuje dyrygenturę na Akademii Muzycznej im. Stanisława Moniuszki w Gdańsku w klasie prof. Zygmunta Rycherta. W tym roku jest również studentem prestiżowej International Piano Academy Lake Como.

 

Pianista angażuje się w przywracanie improwizacji do świata muzyki klasycznej. Inspiruje się w tym zakresie historyczną praktyką wykonawczą, np. poprzez wykonywanie improwizowanych kadencji w koncertach Mozarta. Na konkursie chopinowskim w Darmstadt oprócz 1 nagrody uzyskał również nagrodę za najlepszą improwizację na tematy z „Wolnego Strzelca” Webera. W 2020 roku otrzymał drugą nagrodę w konkursie improwizacji fortepianowej „Transatlantyk Instant Composition Contest” w ramach Międzynarodowego Festiwalu Filmowego w Katowicach.

 

Na fortepianie zainteresowania Piotra Pawlaka się nie kończą. Artysta jest też laureatem olimpiad matematycznych. Po obronie pracy magisterskiej na tym kierunku w 2020 roku, kontynuuje studia w szkole doktorskiej Uniwersytetu Gdańskiego.

Piotr Pawlak- is one of the most versatile Polish pianists of the young generation. He is the winner of numerous international competitions, including the 5th Maj Lind International Piano Competition in Helsinki (2022) and the 11th International Chopin Piano Competition in Darmstadt (2017). He is also a laureate of Chopin competitions in Beijing (2016), Budapest (2018), and Kraków (2019); a laureate of the International Stanisław Moniuszko Competition of Polish Music in Rzeszów (2019), the Ignacy Jan Paderewski International Piano Competition in Bydgoszcz (2022), and the International Chopin Competition on Historical Instruments in Warsaw (2023). In addition, he has been a three-time participant in the International Fryderyk Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw (2015, 2021, 2025).

He began his musical education at the age of six at the Feliks Nowowiejski General Music School in Gdańsk under Ewa Włodarczyk, and later continued his studies with Prof. Waldemar Wojtal, completing his piano studies in 2021. He also graduated in the organ class of Dr Hanna Dys. He is currently studying conducting at the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk in the class of Prof. Zygmunt Rychert. This year he is also a student of the prestigious International Piano Academy Lake Como.

The pianist is actively involved in restoring improvisation to the world of classical music. He draws inspiration from historical performance practice, for example by performing improvised cadenzas in Mozart’s concertos. At the Chopin Competition in Darmstadt, in addition to First Prize, he also received the award for the best improvisation on themes from Weber’s Der Freischütz. In 2020, he won Second Prize at the Transatlantyk Instant Composition Contest as part of the International Film Festival in Katowice.

Piotr Pawlak’s interests extend beyond the piano. He is also a laureate of mathematics olympiads. After defending his master’s thesis in mathematics in 2020, he continues his studies at the doctoral school of the University of Gdańsk.
