Indrė Eugenija Želvytė

 

Pianist and musicologist Indrė Eugenija Želvytė studied piano at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater, where she graduated in 2004 with the Master of Solo and Pedagogy. As a pianist, she did an internship at the St. Petersburg Conservatory N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov. Later, she defended a doctoral thesis at Paris Sorbonne in the department of music and musicology where she obtained her doctorate in 2014. With the Paris Sorbonne scholarship, she was a research scientist at the Moscow Conservatory P. I. Tchaikovsky. The theme of her scientific work is as follows: The trends of the piano during the years 1985-2010 through three international competitions: Chopin in Warsaw, Long-Thibaud in Paris and Tchaikovsky in Moscow.

The pianist has given numerous solo and chamber music concerts in different cities of Lithuania, France, Russia, Jordan, Poland, Latvia and Austria. She has performed in many prestigious venues in St. Petersburg and has performed with some of the most outstanding orchestras such as the N. Rimsky-Korsakov Symphony Orchestra and the St Petersburg State Capella Symphony Orchestra under A.V. Chernushenko as well as with Vilnius St. Christopher Chamber Orchestra under D. Katkus. As a soloist, she has participated in major festivals in Austria, Poland and France. She has also taught in master classes in China.

Indrė Eugenija Želvytė is the author of scientific articles; she has participated in numerous scientific conferences, mainly in France, and has given lectures on different piano aspects in various European countries as well as in Japan. Her scientific research continues to focus on the art of piano. In recent years, she has been invited as an expert consultant for international music competitions in Poland and France. She has also presented prestigious musical events in well-known halls such as La Salle Gaveau and La Salle Pleyel in Paris.
For many years, Indrė Eugenija Želvytė has been actively involved in the Music for Health - Clinica Musicalis charity project at the Vilnius University Hospital Santaros Klinikos.
