Zuzana Paulechová spent her childhood in Prievidza in the Upper Nitra region of Slovakia. She received her first musical inspiration from her mother, whose piano playing captured her imagination at an early age.
She began her studies in Bratislava at the State Conservatory of Music, where she studied piano with Eva Pappová and composition with Juraj Pospíšil from 1977 to 1981. She received her masters degree in piano performance from the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Bratislava in 1985, studying with professors Peter Toperczer and Miloslav Starosta. From 1985 to 1987 the Slovak Music Foundation funded her study with professor Marian Lapšanský. In 1993, she earned her Art. D. degree from the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts, studying with professor Ida Černecká. She is currently on the faculty at the Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts in Bratislava and at the Academy of Arts in Banska Bystrica. She is an internationally renown lecturer and teacher. She has given lectures and master classes in Slovakia , Lithuania, Finland, Island and the United States, and is an active adjudicator, having judged competitions in Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, and the Czech Republic.
In 1976 Ms. Paulechová won the Virtuosi per musica di pianoforte competition in Ústi nad Labem in the Czech Republic. During the following two decades Ms. Paulechová was an award winner at many international competitions, including the Fryderyk Chopin competition in Mariánske Lázňe (Czechoslovakia) in 1979, Incontro Internazionale Giovani Pianisti Citta di Senigallia (Italy) in 1980, Paloma O’Shea in Santander (Spain) in 1984, where she was the prize winner for the best interpretation of Spanish music, and the Robert Schumann competition in Zwickau (Germany) in 1985. In 1984 her piano trio won first prize in the Slovak National Chamber Music competition, and in 1988 Ms. Paulechová won first prize at the Slovak National Competition in Piano performance. She has performed solo recitals and collaborated with orchestras and chamber groups throughout Europe (Belgium, the Czech Republic, England, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithuania, Romania, Ukraine, and Yugoslavia), China, and the United States.
She regularly records for the Slovak radio and television, and has also recorded for the BBC. She has produced 5 CDs featuring works by Chopin, Suchoň, Tchaikovsky, Ravel, Schubert,Liszt, and Irshai.
Ms. Paulechová is renowned for her prodigious technique, sensitive phrasing, and expressive coloring. She elicits the subtlest details of musical gestures while avoiding sentimentality, even in the most well-known pieces.

Študovala na Vysokej škole múzických umení v Bratislave u Prof. Petra Toperczera a Prof. Miloslava Starostu, Prof. Mariána Lapšanského . V roku 1990 – 93 pokračovala ako doktorandka na VŠMU v triede Prof. Idy Černeckej
Získala prestížne ocenenia na medzinárodných súťažiach:
Virtuosi per musica di pianoforte ( Česko),Súťaž F. Chopina – Mariánske Lázně (Česko)
Incontro Internazionale Giovani Pianisti Cittá di Senigallia v Taliansku,Paloma O´Shea v Santanderi v Španielsku,Medzinárodáj súťaž R. Schumanna v Zwickau v Nemecku. Dvakrát sa stala víťazkou Interpretačnej súťaže Slovenskej republiky ,raz v sólovej hre a tiež v komornej hre .Pravidelne koncertuje v Európe ,USA a Číne. Spolupracovala s mnohými domácimi a zahraničnými symfonickými orchestrami, vystupovala na viacerých domácich a zahraničných festivaloch,viedla majstrovské kurzy v USA, Fínsku, Islande, Litve a na Slovensku. Bola členkou poroty na medzinárodných a domácich klavírnych súťažiach v Slovinsku, Chorvátsku, Česku a Slovensku.
Nahrávala pre Slovenský rozhlas a televíziu a BBC. Ma 5 CD nahrávok.
Zuzana Paulechová pedagogicky pôsobí ako docentka klavírnej hry na Akadémii umení v Banskej Bystrici a na Vysokej škole múzických umení v Bratislave.
