 LAPŠANSKÝ MARIÁN

Born in Tisovec, associated with Conservatorium in Bratislava, Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (class of Františka Maxian and Jan Panenek) and Moscow PI Tchaikovsky (with Victor Merzanov), has been spreading the good name of the Slovak musical culture in the world for several decades. His prestigious career has been marked with many successes and awards, i.a. the absolute winner in the Smetana Competition in Hradec Kralove (1970). He lectures at art schools in Prague, Bratislava and Banská Bystrica, gave a master class in Tokyo and at the Franz Liszt Academy of Music  in Budapest as well as he was teaching at the Summer Academy in Semmering, Austria. Marian Lapsansky initiated the establishment of the Nepomuk Hummel International Piano Competition in Bratislava, and currently he is holding the position of its President. He established the Foundation of Cyril and Methodius to support young artists in 1990. And in 1991 he initiated - the present - Central European Festival of Concert Art in Žilina. Since 2004, Mr. Lapšanský is the General Director of the Slovak Philharmonic.
